We booked this in late September. The city of Healy is basically shutdown by mid September. The hotel staff was very helpful and also let us know when the northern lights were out. Note: Hotel changed name to Aurora Denali Lodge. Clean rooms with plenty of space. Excellent location if you're planning to drive into Denali National Park, though I don't know if the tour buses stop there. They offer a boxed lunch for $13, which is useful if you're going into the park. The only downside was the insects in the hallway, and one or two in the rooms. Nord Haven was a phenomenal good surprise and value. Since it was the "only game in town" on May 4, we took a chance, but frankly did not expect very much. Not to worry! Our room was spotlessly clean and neat, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the location was very quiet and was right next door to "Rose's Cafe". which was quite satisfactory. While the motel was basic, the attention to detail was evident-good carpentry, nice finishes to walls, floors, bathrooms. We would look no further in a repeat visit. The hotel was decent but for the price I expected better bathroom and breakfast. Breakfast is bare minimum and nothing fancy. The hallways we're a bit noisy, especially during breakfast time. Clean rooms and nice staff. Everything was good with the stay. The place is owned by Usibelli coal mine. There is a breakfast in the morning and it is actually really good. The chef cooks up real eggs and sausage, something you don't find much in hotels in Alaska and the Lower 48.
